Swoon. Sevilla.
The past few days in Sevilla have been lovely. I've made friends and acquaintances and been walked to destinations by strangers. While I battled a mini cold, I feel like I got a chance to see most of the city. Thanks Fe, for the recommendations to Real Alcazares and Giralda which had an eternally stunning view of the city! Made it by the Hospital de la Caridad, funded by the man who inspired the character of Don Juan. Stopped by the Plaza del Torro where I didn't enter since there was no event, simply a tour of the building. Would I have wanted to watch an actual match? Perhaps. That stone is left unturned for now. Instead I met a friend for tapas at a nearby restaurant where we stared at ham hocks, bull heads, and photos of famous matadores all around us. Became completely enchanted with El Museo de Bellas Artes where I got to see some amazing work by local artists. Was not too impressed by the Museum of Contemporary Art though there was an interesting photo documentary project where the artist asked three random questions of random subjects at art openings. Each person who could answer all three correctly was named the sphinx and photographed with the artist. Adorable.
Santa Cruz of course was lovely. Tons of winding streets, shops and hot chocolate con churros. Yummmmm. Did I mention squares full of people drinking wine into the wee hours? Yes please...
