Bom Dia Barcelona.
This morning I hopped a flight from Sevilla in the wee hours and arrived in Barcelona. Found the hostel (BCN Backpackers) on Carre Casanova, dropped everything off and B lined straight for Ciutat Vella (Old City). Got my bearings on the general layout of the area then set off to get lost. Wandered my way around past every type of shop imaginable and came upon Cafe Centric. Tapas. Vino. Cerveca. Cafe. Perfection. A plate of croquetas filled with cuttlefish, a mini bocadillo and a vino tinto later I was off.
Made my first round down La Rambla, a big touristy street full of florists, artists and caricaturists and human statues, dressed up as angels, demons, headless men, and gypsies. I then ventured in and out of every street and nook along the old city. Found some amazing street art and got all meep mop murppy in my brain...
At the end of La Rambla I arrived at Mirador de Colom which overlooks the water and walked over to Port Vell where there was an unending number of sailboats and possibly even more seagulls. Aggressive I might add. A scene from "The Birds" you ask? Not quite. But close. I walked over to Rambla del Mar and hung out and stared at the water for a while. Called it a day. A good long day.
