Lapa To Lisboa.
Woke up to a beautifully sunny day and decided to hop on the train and find my way to Lapa which is just outside of Lisboa in order to search for the Romanian embassy. Why you ask? A few years back, when the idea of coming here was a mere speck in my mind, my mom and I were talking and she mentioned that I might be able to get citizenship in Romania since my grandparents on my fathers side were from there before migrating to Brasil. With that in mind I set off to get some info. I hopped on the train and during my transfer noticed some amazing graffiti which I absolutely want to revisit and photograph so I can send to you guys. I hopped off in Santos and went off on my trek which consisted of walking uphill for the most part but was broken up by a necessary cafezinho here and there along the way.
After playing what seemed like charades with the man who answered the gate (who interestingly enough did not speak english or portuguese) I was sent over to the offices where they told me I needed to have documentation to prove they were born there before I could start the process. It's definitely something I am looking into since it will be a huge help with being able to get a job in Europe if I stick around a bit.
I set off through Lapa and found my way to Tram 28 which has become one of my favorites. It's been lovely being able to hop on and ogle the streets along the way. I hopped off in Bairro Alto which has also become one of my favorites and checked out a couple of art stores in the area. Paint. Not so expensive. Paint brushes. Yikes!
I spent most of the rest of the day wandering around Chiado and made a quick stop at the Brasileira which is absolutely adorable. I might add it has one of the best empadas de frango (pastry filled with chicken) i've had yet. Other than that, I thought about my photo project which I am hoping to get started within the next week or so. And picked up a current list of galleries and art shows which I am hoping to hit tomorrow or Thursday... Will let y'all know how that goes. Couldn't stop craving bread and cheese today. Hmmmm...
