Birthday Celebration!

This past weekend we celebrated Vivian's birthday with a night out with friends. We of course instantly migrated to the Irish pub in Lisboa, thanks to Fernanda and Fabiano who had been there a couple of weeks earlier and loved it. We spent hours drinking Guiness, listening to a live Irish band and banging on tables as we sang along with whatever song we recognized. We even managed to get them to play one of my favorite Caetano Veloso songs "Sozinho". Priceless. Needless to say this is my favorite bar in Lisboa so far. 

After several laughs and a couple of new friendships (Rosa and Bob) a few of us made our way to Bairro Alto for bit of dancing. We stopped in at several different spots and it was nice to see that folks were out and about looking for funtime. I keep hearing that the summertime is even nicer since folks usually hang out and about with their bevvies, both on streets and in the different squares around town. 

We met several really nice folks, mainly from Porto (north of Lisboa) which seems to be known for people that are a bit friendlier than Lisboa. I have yet to make my way up there but so far I would say I concur. Before we knew it, we were making our way home in the wee hours. 

All in all a great time was had...and it looks like a last minute trip to London might be in the works!
